Leo Update

Sorry it's been a while. Flora and Leo have been keeping me very busy!
Leo, Flora, and I went to see Jill today. It was a postpartum visit for me. She just wants to make sure I'm doing feeling good, which I am.
We weighed Leo while we were there. He weighs 10 lbs, 3oz. He sure is growing fast! I could tell he was a little heavier. It must be the big 4 oz bottles he's been chowing down every 2 1/2 to 3 hours!
Leo is continuing to sleep well at night. He sleeps about 3 hours at a time and wakes about 2 times every night. He has been awake more, too. We've taken those times as an opportunity for him to look at us and to play in his "gym".

Yesterday Grandpa Joe and Uncle Chad came to visit and have lunch. We all had a nice time and Flora got a kick out of Grandpa and Chad spinning and throwing her hula hoop so it would come back.
This weekend we'll be taking it easy and looking forward to seeing Granny Sharon and Grandpa Denny.

Leo's First Week

Leo has had a pretty relaxed first week. We had quite a few visitors from Tuesday until Sunday. Thank you all for visiting and for the gifts and food- YUM!

Sunday Leo had his first outing, to the grocery store! He cried when we put him in the car seat, but quickly settled down. He fell asleep in the car and slept the whole time at the store. He didn't wake up until we had almost all of the groceries put away at home.
On Monday Leo, Flora, and I went to Target to pick up a few things. Leo fell asleep in the car and didn't even wake up when I put him in the front carrier. He slept the whole time there, too. I guess he likes shopping! I bet Tom will like that!!! ;-)
Tomorrow we plan on going to Green Bay to have coffee with Val and Fischer.
On Friday, Leo has his first doctor's appointment, just to get checked out.
This morning Flora fed Leo a bottle. She did a really great job. She is very helpful and loving, but doesn't really seem too jealous.

Leo has been nursing really well. We are giving him an ounce of milk here and there to make sure he is full, since we are not sure how sufficient my milk supply is. He tolerates the switching well and doesn't spit-up like Flora did, but you never know!
At night Leo is a champ! He sleeps for about 4 hours, nurses(which takes an hour or a little more), and goes back to sleep for about 3-4 more hours.
During the day he takes 2-3 hour naps and wakes mostly to eat. He is most often alert around 7-8 at night for a longer period of time and randomly, throughout the day, for shorter periods of time. He has a good temperament so far...
Tom has started a another blog. It's a family blog that he will be updating. The web address is: http://enzfamilyramblings.wordpress.com/ It is also on the right side under "Other Interesting Links". I will still post on this blog unless we need to switch for some strange reason.

Welcome to the world Leo Thomas Enz!!!

Leo Thomas Enz made his entrance into the world this morning at 11:07.  He weighs a whopping 8 lbs, 14 ozs.  and is 21 inches long.  He was born into the water after a 14 hours of labor.  Leo and I(mom) are both doing well.  He has nursed already, couple of times.
We had a great support team with our midwife, Jill, her assisting midwife, Maryka, my sister, Robyn, and our cousin, Brenda.  Thanks so much for all your support and help!!!
Flora was here as well.  She was a great little helper and even held my hand when Tom couldn't.
We welcome visitors, but please call first.
I have posted some pictures in Flora's web album.  I will have to create an e-mail address and a web album for Leo because we ran out of room in Flora's web album.

Still No News...

This afternoon, I went to see Jill.  Not much has changed.  Baby's heartbeat is still good and so is the fluid level.  Over tonight and tomorrow morning, I am going to use some herbs(black and blue cohosh) to try and stimulate labor.  If this doesn't work, we are going to just wait and let nature take it's course.  Once I go over 42 weeks, I will have to get a non-stress test or a biophysical profile.  Which just means getting an ultrasound and listening to the heart beat to make sure baby is in good health and can wait a little longer to be born.
I am very okay with this.  I'm tired of trying all these "interventions" and just want to go into labor on my own.  Granted, I am excited to meet our little one, but feel that if waiting is what he or she needs to do, than that's what should be done.
I am not worried at all about any of this.  I think that this is just how my body works.  It likes to hold on until the time is perfect.  So, please, don't any of you be worried either. :)  It won't make the baby come any faster.
I will continue to update you through the blog and when you get a call(or an e-mail if you aren't immediate family or a close friend), that will be the call to let you know the baby has been born!  So please don't call me.  If you want to ask how I'm doing you can e-mail me, I would gladly respond to them.  Sorry if this may seem crabby, but I would like to pretend like I'm not "overdue" and live my life normally until the day(or night) comes and if you did the same, it would make me feel more at ease.
Thanks and hopefully I'll be talking to you sooner than later!!! :)

No News Update...

So, there's no news on the baby front. We went to see Jill today. Baby's heartbeat was good and so was the amniotic fluid level. So she said to just take it easy and relax this weekend and if nothing happens, I'll talk to her about the next step(maybe castor oil?) on Monday. But hopfully baby will make an apperance on his or her own soon!
I know a lot of you are waiting anxiously, so are we! But the rest of you can take it easy, too, and don't worry about us. We'll call or e-mail once the little one arrives! :)
