Pool-time fun!

Today was so nice out that I couldn't resist getting the pool out for Flora.

Leo woke up right as we finished filling it, so he got to play in it too. But only for a little while because he needed to eat and he didn't have sun screen on.
Flora is in her second week of potty training. She is doing really well! She can hold it if she doesn't have a diaper on(she only wears one when she's sleeping), which is most of the time, even on walks and in the car. If she does wet a little she can stop it and tells me/us she needs to go potty.
Today she went #2 on the potty for the first time! She even told me that she had to go potty and held it until we got up to the bathroom. We are so proud of her!!! Now she just needs to get trained for when she sleeps and we'll be diaper free! At least for her! ;)

Enjoy the beautiful day!!!

Leo's 4 Month Check-up

Leo had his 4 month check-up today.   Here are the current measurements:  Height- 28"(100th percentile- dr. said he was "off the charts")  Weight- 18 lbs, 1 oz (94th percentile- more that double his birth weight now!)  Head Circumference 45 cm(98th percentile).  Holy smokes, he sure has grown!! If you have seen him lately, you can attest to that!
He is also continuing to get stronger when he's on his tummy.  He can sit up pretty well, too.  We just have to spot him so he doesn't topple over. :)
Leo loves to scoot around when he's on his back.  Even if that means it's at 3 a.m.  He will do 90-18o degree turns.  He has rolled from tummy to back and from back to tummy, but doesn't do so on a regular basis.
Leo is all about his mouth lately.  He'll put what ever he can get his hands on in his mouth.  And if he doesn't have anything in his hands, he'll put them in his mouth!
Our growing boy is still drinking 6-7 ounces, each feeding, every 3-4 hours.  Except at night.  He will usually have his last bottle and sleep for about 5-6 hours from that time.  As for naps, he usually take a 2-3 hour nap in the afternoon and about an hour nap before and after his long one.
Leo continues to be mellow and good-natured.  He likes to smile and is a generally happy boy!
Not to forget our other little sweetie, Flora!  Her vocabulary is amazing.  She know so many words and will repeat just about everything, so watch what you say around her!  She is also starting to grasp the art of conversation.  Yesterday in the car she said, "Leo has a owl hat?"
I said, "yes, he has an owl hat."
"Did you make it?" she asked.
"Yes, I did.
"It's cute!"
"Thank you, Flora!" What a cutie!
She has also been singing songs to herself.  Sometimes it's bits of songs she has head or sometimes it's songs she is making up or just random nothing-ness.  Either way it's super cute, too!
Flora has been potty training a little lately.  We'll put her in undies with out pants and remind/ask her to go potty and she'll keep them dry for the most part.  If she does wet them, she knows it and knows where she needs to go.  We've only done it a handful of times last week.  She wears a diaper for naps and when we are out and only wears undies when she requests it or when we ask and she agrees.  We need to get some more under wear before we try potty training more seriously.
Flora has been very shy lately, even with people she knows, so please don't be offended if she is stand-off-ish with you.  She needs a bit to warm up to people.  It's just her age and a phase, she'll get over it, I hope!
Here is Flora "writing" while we are grocery shopping.  Can you see the letter "P" at the bottom?  She told me she was drawing circles and exclaimed, "I did it!", when she wrote the "P".  She's just too smart!
Hope you all had a great Mother's Day!  I got coffee in bed(we were going out for breakfast with my mom), chocolate, tulips, a gift certificate(I need some more summer bottoms), and a sweet card.  Flora and Leo did a great job! ;)

Happy Earth Day!!!

Today is Earth Day. We hope everyone is celebrating appropriately and remembering to keep the Earth in mind everyday when you go about your daily activities.
Here are some easy Earth-friendly tips that you can do:
- Use cloth bags at the grocery store and other stores, too! :) I know a lot of you do this already. Keep remembering those bags!
- Use cloth napkins, it's not that hard. We use ours for a week and then throw them in with the towels. Besides, when else are you going to use them?
- Use rags for cleaning(you can also leave out a basket of rags and try to use them instead of paper towels). Cut up t-shirts make great rags for washing windows, but who does that?! You can also use rags, cut to size, in your Swiffer(if you have one). You can also spray the rag with some kind of cleaner after you put it on. This saves you money, too!
- Use glass canning jars(or clean, glass jars from some other food like pickles) to put leftovers in(or store dry goods: beans, grains, pasta, flour, etc.). They are BPA free, dishwasher safe, microwaveable, freeze-able, refrider-able(?) and easy to stack.
That's all I've got! Have a Happy Earth Day! Get out and enjoy what our beautiful planet has to offer!
Now for the kids' stuff!
I weighed Leo on Monday, he is 16 pounds, 7 ounces! He is about 26 1/2 inches long. Flora wasn't that size until somewhere between 5 and 6 months. Leo is currently in 6-9 months jammies and Onesies, any thing that is one piece, has a snap crotch, or "footies", because he's so long. He still fits into 3-6 moths for separates.
Flora is doing well, too. I think she is growing, too, because some of her pants are getting short on her.
She continues to go on the potty once and a while. Now that the weather is getting warmer, we can keep her in just undies or bottomless more often.
Here are two pictures for you to compare(I know you like to do this, I do too!:) Flora was about the age that Leo is in this picture, that was taken this morning, hence the the tree-hugger shirt. Have fun!!

Today...

Today we went to meet Sally's cousins, from Chicago, half way at the Mitchell Park Domes in Milwaukee.  We all enjoyed the little bit of summer the domes provided.
Even Leo stayed awake for the tour.
Flora especially liked the hydrangeas. All the pictures of the cool things we saw are in the "Spring 2009" photo album and slideshow.
So Sally is now with her cousins in Chicago and will be going with them to visit more cousins in Phoenix, AZ on Tuesday through Sunday. Lucky girl, she just returned from a week in Florida last Sunday. All that nice weather is bound to spoil her! :)
Two more things... Flora can pretty much count to 10 on her own. AND... Leo rolled from his tummy to his back, for the first time, tonight, twice! I didn't get it on video, but I'm sure he'll be doing it more on a regular basis!

New Stuff on the Blog

I have added two new videos to "Flora-vision" which I have changed to "Enz-a-vision".  One is Leo giggling a little and the other is me and Tom singing "Happy Birthday" to Flora.   Enjoy!
Leo has been getting stronger.  He can hold up his head really well when seated and can hold his head up for a minute or more when he's on his tummy.  He's growing so fast.  I can't believe he'll be 3 months old next week!
